Suppose we are using a force gauge to measure gravity in a planet. We set the gauge force to the 1N range which has a resolution of .01 N. From its specs the error introduced during the measurment at the 1N range is 2*10^-3*reading+10^-3*range. Now suppose we perform 5 different measurements: Measurement Value 1 0.49 2 0.5 3 0.48 4 0.51 5 0.5 Now in order to find uncertainty of type B we need 1 measurement and the specs of the instrument.But which 1 of the 5 measurements should I choose?
