Homework and exercises questions are generally allowed (currently anyway) under the Problems category, although there is the requirement that you need to 'show your working/attempted solution'. I don't see any issues with your two questions here (although if you want to improve them further, including more details about your thought process would be an idea).

As far as your two questions go, I'll admit that when I saw that you'd written your own answer, I thought you'd solved the problem, so no further answers were needed.

On a different note, from my own viewpoint,  while I can have another look at your questions, that's certainly no guarantee I'll be able to help/answer, or give the best answer.
