Optically, why are circular eyeglasses lenses better than rectangular?

My optometrist said that round eyeglass lenses are OPTICALLY better than rectangular, particularly to correct myopia. He was NOT referring to fashion or style.

I couldn't understand his explanation at all! I remembered merely some phrases about rectangular lenses like how they —

  1. distort your vision more,

  2. need to be bevelled, and

  3. are more convex?

I've noticed that your posts often read like you've written them, and then used a thesaurus on every other word and substituted the longest word you can find. It often results in very odd sounding posts that sometimes don't make complete sense. You might want to consider writing using more simple English. I've edited this post as an example.

But please don't change the meaning of my post. You mistakenly edited my post to "I understood some points". No! I understood nothing!
